This fine art workshop centers around black and white nude and figure photography.

The goal of this workshop is not only to have all participants walk home with stunning images; our aim is to introduce you to a different way of seeing, to ignite your passion for the creative process that is photography.

Master Photographer Ralph Gibson believes that "...all photographers should know how to photograph two things: the nude and architecture...". After this is accomplished, any subject can be attempted.

Your instructor Marc has been photographing the nude and figure for many years. What has started as a purely personal journey has significantly affected Marc's personal style and creative vision as a photographer.

In addition to Marc's B&W landscape images, his nude and figure work has been widely exhibited in Vancouver and beyond.

Marc will share his personal inspirations, approaches and techniques during this intensive weekend workshop. You'll be working in small groups with a variety of models. The focus during this class is on giving students as much shooting time as possible. Marc prefers to work on location, allowing himself to be inspired by his surroundings. We'll be utilizing natural light as much as possible, but have professional flash and studio strobe equipment on hand should the need to use it arise.

We'll shoot ALL DAY Saturday and Sunday, so make sure to bring enough batteries and memory cards! A computer will be available to download images and burn onto CD/DVD or transfer to a portable hard-drive.

Critiques by the instructor are available and ongoing throughout each day.

We'll meet again within a few weeks of the workshop to review our images as a group. The exact date of this follow-up meeting will be discussed and agreed upon with all participants on the first day of the workshop.

Friday 7pm - 10pm:

• Introductory lecture where Marc will share his images, creative approach and techniques (including specific advice for black and white photography).

Saturday 10am - 1pm:

• Shooting session with professional models.

Lunch 1pm - 2pm

Saturday 2pm - 5pm:

• Shooting session with professional models and instructor critiques.

Sunday 10am - 1pm:

• Shooting session with professional models.

Lunch 1pm - 2pm

Sunday 2pm - 5pm:

• Shooting session with professional models and instructor critiques.

Level:

Beginner/Intermediate/Professional. Must be comfortable with personal camera operation.

Enrollment:

Maximum 14 participants.

Equipment Needed:

Bring your camera (must have manual controls) and at least 1 lens.
Optional: additional lenses, camera flash and tripod.

We Provide:

Detailed course notes in binder.
All lighting equipment and professional models when shooting in a professional studio/location setting as part of this course.

CAPIC & PPABC Members:

A 5% discount is available to CAPIC and PPABC members when registering online. Please be prepared to show your membership cards on the first day of your workshop.

Group Discount:

A 5% discount will be appplied if 3 or more people register at the same time for the same workshop. (All 3 tuitions must be paid for by one credit card to be considered a group registration.) Please follow the instructions on the online registration page.

In order to provide the best learning environment possible VPW keeps class sizes limited to 12-15 people (depending on the workshop). This is but one reason that we count on you to attend your chosen class, once you have registered for it.

If you must withdraw for any reason please be aware of our refund policy as follows:

For our local workshops, 1 to 5 days in length and our Local 10 Week Courses, VPW requires 15 days written notice (before the workshop start date) of your withdrawal in order to provide a refund. (Email notice is acceptable.)

If you wish to transfer to a different workshop date VPW requires 7 days written notice.
