Each year over a million tourists visit the Tofino area making it one of British Columbia’s premier destinations.

Tofino is located on the West Coast of Vancouver Island in the province of British Columbia, Canada. At Tofino's doorstep is the Clayoquot Sound region, a world UNESCO biosphere reserve. This area also boasts one of British Columbia's most prized nature reserves, Pacific Rim National Park. Tofino offers one of the best opportunities to experience BC's pristine wilderness first hand.

Just imagine the infinite number of photographic opportunities! This workshop is very much focused to provide you with as much time in the field as possible. Expect to take at least twice as many pictures as you think you will!

This is an all-inclusive Workshop offering!

VPW’s luxury van(s) take you from downtown Vancouver all the way to Tofino. Return trip with BC ferries is included as well.

Once in Tofino, you will stay in your very own private cottage on McKenzie Beach. Each cabin is fully equipped with a queen size bed and stocked kitchenette, so you can make your own meals (if you so desire).

We’ll go out shooting each day, and return for daily critiques and optional lectures. We’ll even setup a full digital lab on site for you to have access 24 hours a day, so you can download, print and edit your work right there!

VPW's small group policy will give frequent opportunities for one-on-one instruction.

In addition to time spent shooting in the field, we will offer valuable lectures on various topics including instruction on effective and dynamic landscape photography, exposure and composition techniques, use of filters, advanced black and white, macro and long-exposure photography.

We will meet in the evenings to go over the events of the day, share our thoughts and get prepared for the next day.

Those who shoot digital will have the opportunity to download their images to our professional portable computer and digital projector setup. Participants will also have access to rental camera equipment, including some of the latest digital cameras, panoramic and large format camera gear and a variety of lenses.

Born in Germany, Marc is well traveled and currently lives and works in Vancouver, B.C. He is a professional commercial and award-winning fine art photographer, educator, writer and director of Vancouver Photo Workshops LTD.

Since 2004, when he founded Vancouver Photo Workshops Ltd, Marc has worked with some of the world’s top photographers including Jay Maisel, Mary Ellen Mark, Arthur Meyerson, Ralph Gibson, Gregory Heisler, Joe McNally, and Freeman Patterson

In 2006, he was commissioned to put together one of North America’s first full-time, fully accredited, professional photography diploma programs focused solely on the latest digital technologies.

Basic photography knowledge required.

Enrollment:

Maximum 10 participants.

Equipment Needed:

Bring your film or digital camera and at least 1 lens.
Optional: additional lenses, camera flash, tripod or laptop.

We Provide:

* All instruction during the tour to Tofino.
* Travel and transportation from downtown Vancouver to Tofino.

* Entrance fees to Pacific Rim National Park.
* 3 Nights accommodation in your own private cabin at Tofino’s Ocean Village Beach Resort.

What is not included:

* Film and processing costs (if you are not shooting digital.)
* Food and drinks (with the exception of our final group dinner.)

In order to provide the best photographic tours possible VPW keeps tour sizes limited to 10-12 participants (depending on the tour).

For our Photo Tours, VPW works in conjunction with Sacred Earth Journeys, and we abide by their refund and cancellation policy.

All tours require a non-refundable deposit of $500 USD. Full payment is required a minimum of 70 days prior to departure.

All payments made are non-refundable and we strongly suggest you purchase trip cancellation insurance to cover any cancellation fees applicable.

Note: Each tour requires a minimum number of participants. Should the trip fail to achieve minimum participation, VPW & Sacred Earth Journeys reserves the right to cancel the tour and refund any deposits received or to apply a small group surcharge to each traveler. All participants will be notified a minimum of 70 days prior to departure of any changes to the advertised itinerary.
