Take a closer look at nude photography in a truly stunning location on Bowen Island with 'The New Nude' Bowen Island Workshop.

Fine art and fashion photographer Syx Langemann introduces participants to an exciting dimension of nude photography that fixates on angles and hidden details, exposing fetishes and desires.

Syx has focused much of his career on studying the female body, including his series Postapocerotica, portraits that beautifully portray fetish, intimate bondage and body modification. His roots as a body piercer, as well as years of fashion photography, give Syx an unmatched eye for intimate and unique views of the body and for challenging traditional definitions of beauty.

Students will prepare to embark on this adventure by discussing the style, composition and content of examples from both contemporary photographers and student contributions.

This class offers one evening lecture, two full days of shooting on location and one full day of critique and Photoshop post-processing.

This workshop will begin on the Thursday evening at our new studio facilities at 7pm with an introductory lecture.

Bowen Island:

On Friday you will meet on Bowen Island at 10am at the ferry landing to embark on two full days of shooting on location. You will be taken to different secluded places to make the most of shooting in a beautiful island setting.

Weather permitting you will shoot outdoors and indoors, exploring the nude in variable lighting and with inspiring backdrops. Expect to spend about 6 hours on Friday and Saturday shooting extensively.

On Friday evening will be a wonderful barbecue and beer event.

On Sunday you will meet back at our studio in Vancouver for your critique sessions and to learn all the post-processing secrets of nude photography.

This rare opportunity to experience raw, honest photography that observes the desires of the artist, the subject, and the audience, is truly unique and cannot be missed. Syx guides his students over the curves of the body, identifying strong, interesting lines, and encouraging daring, provocative shots.

Step beyond the traditional and enter the intimate world of the new nude. Where the intimate meets the erotic, where any fetish is someone's desire.

**Please Note: Accommodation for the Friday night stay on Bowen Island is NOT included in the tuition price.**

Bowen Island is only a 20 minute ferry ride from Vancouver. Ferries leave Horseshoe Bay terminal approximately every hour from 6am-9.45pm.

Thursday 7pm - 10pm:

• Introductory lecture where Syx will share images, creative approach and techniques.

Friday 10am-5pm:

• Shooting session with professional models on Bowen Island.

Saturday 10am-5pm:

• Shooting session with professional models on Bowen Island.

Sunday 10am-5pm:

• Critique session and Photoshop post-processing at our Vancouver Studio.

Level:

Beginner/Intermediate/Professional. Must be comfortable with personal camera operation.

Enrollment:

Maximum 12 participants.

Equipment Needed:

Bring your camera (must have manual controls) and at least 1 lens.
Optional: additional lenses, camera flash and tripod.

We Provide:

Detailed course notes in binder.
All lighting equipment and professional models when shooting on location as part of this course.

CAPIC & PPABC Members:

A 5% discount is available to CAPIC and PPABC members when registering online. Please be prepared to show your membership cards on the first day of your workshop.

Group Discount:

A 5% discount will be appplied if 3 or more people register at the same time for the same workshop. (All 3 tuitions must be paid for by one credit card to be considered a group registration.) Please follow the instructions on the online registration page.

In order to provide the best learning environment possible VPW keeps class sizes limited to 12-15 people (depending on the workshop). This is but one reason that we count on you to attend your chosen class, once you have registered for it.

If you must withdraw for any reason please be aware of our refund policy as follows:

For our local workshops, 1 to 5 days in length and our Local 10 Week Courses, VPW requires 15 days written notice (before the workshop start date) of your withdrawal in order to provide a refund. (Email notice is acceptable.)

If you wish to transfer to a different workshop date VPW requires 7 days written notice.
