Vancouver Photo Workshops proudly announces this public lecture and presentation with internationally acclaimed photographer William Albert Allard.
Simply put, Allard is one of the most important photographers of our time. Allard will be highlighting his incredible work from his latest book: William Alberta Allard, Five Decades - A Retrospective. This gorgeous book reveals 50 years of beauty, mystery and a sense of adventure by this pioneer of colour photography.
For his presentation, William Albert Allard will show pictures that will accompany a pod cast he made for National Geographic following the publication in the June 2006 issue of his story about Montana Hutterites with whom he's enjoyed a friendship over about 40 years.
This will be a very personal presentation involving the death of his first born son in 2005 while he was working on my Hutterite essay.
Along with Cartier-Bresson, Leibovitz and Avedon, Allard has been hugely influential on modern photography. He is one of the few photographers of his generation whose entire professional body of work is in colour.
Allard has been a major force at National Geographic and in mainstream photography for almost 50 years - we are honored to bring this legendary photographer to Vancouver!
