UPDATE: After a great first workshop we're happy to have Renee return in April!

Vancouver Photo Workshops in association with Beau Photo proudly present this exclusive weekend workshop, "Lighting for Retouching" with acclaimed photographer Renee Robyn.

This unique workshop features advanced lighting training on Day 1 followed by high-end retouching and compositing training on Day 2. This is a rare opportunity to learn from an internationally published and renown photographer and digital artist, right here in town!

Exclusive Profoto lighting equipment for this workshop will be provided by Beau Photo.

For more details on what will be covered each day, please see the 'Detailed Workshop Agenda' below.

Please note: This Workshop is limited to only 10 students. Register early to avoid disappointment!

Day 1:

We spend the morning going over set etiquette, inspiration, posing, understanding composition, what to watch for when creating composite images, and the importance of story telling.

We then shoot a portrait set and a full length series, with the full length shot intended for doing composite work.

Sometimes we also include shooting the background for our workshop, depending on the average skill of the students and the availability to an interesting location or set (we did this recently in Amsterdam with a model on a chessboard set). If not, I have a selection of stock images that I can distribute to the class.

Day 2:

The entire day is spent in Photoshop. We cover the skills for beautiful portrait retouching in a non-destructive fashion. We cover importance of using brushes, layer masking, dodge and burning, colorizing, makeup retouching, and hair repair.

In the afternoon we create our composite image. We utilize the skills we learned in the morning for portrait retouching and apply them, as well as begin to bring in our background elements and create a seamless transition from a studio shot image to something out of fantasy.

The class is designed to make you think about your art before you click the shutter, and have a clear design in mind before you walk into the studio for your next shoot.
