** Olympics Scheduling**

Please note: We are offering a condensed 5 week version of our Night Photography Course in January for those who wish to be finished before the Olympics. It will run twice weekly on Mon & Tues nights.

At night the city comes to life and the world around us changes. So many photographers miss out on seeing this incredible transformation because they don't know how to shoot effectively when the sun goes down.

This course is designed to show you all the different ways you can capture beautiful and unique imagery at night.

You will learn about lighting sources, locations, equipment, exposing for night scenes, technical issues and creative choices.

If you have ever wanted to cross over to the dark side then this course is for you!

We will cover a wide variety of night shooting styles and imagery. All students will require a tripod for this course.

All lecture and review classes will be three hours in length. All shooting classes will be two hours in length. We have limited the shooting classes to two hours because of the cold weather during the winter months. We will go out shooting no matter what the weather so please be prepared with proper winter clothing.

Session 1 (3 hours):

Lecture: Introduction to night photography, slideshow, techniques, gear and locations.

Session 2 (2 hours):

Field Trip: Shooting city lights and urban night vistas.

Session 3 (2 hours) :

Field Trip: Shooting in the woods using creative light painting techniques.

Session 4 (3 hours):

Review and critique of field trip images in studio.

Session 5 (2 hours) :

Field Trip: Street/documentary night photography.

Session 6 (2 hours):

Field Trip: Using flash guns for selective lighting of scenes.

Session 7 (3 hours) :

Review and critique of field trip images in studio.

Session 8 (2 hours) :

Field Trip: Shooting motion blur and other creative night effects.

Session 9 (2 hours) :

Field Trip: Model shoot at night using city as a backdrop. Guest instructor will join us for this shoot!

Session 10 (3 hours):

Final review and critique of field trip images.

Pre-Requisites

Level:

Beginner/Intermediate. Participants need to be comfortable and confident in using their personal cameras. (You must know how to change any and all settings, turn flash on and off, change exposure settings etc. for your particular camera.)

Enrollment:

Maximum 14 participants.

What to Bring

Equipment Needed:

Each student will need a camera and tripod.
Optional: Extra lenses for SLR cameras, flash and filters.
Bring your camera manual.

Discounts

Early-Bird Discount:

A 10% discount is applied automatically if you register before the Early-Bird Discount deadline date listed in the registration table below.

CAPIC & PPABC Members:

A 5% discount is available to CAPIC and PPABC members when registering online. Please be prepared to show your membership cards on the first day of your workshop.

Group Discount:

A 5% discount will be appplied if 3 or more people register at the same time for the same workshop. (All 3 tuitions must be paid for by one credit card to be considered a group registration.) Please follow the instructions on the online registration page.

Refunds

In order to provide the best learning environment possible VPW keeps class sizes limited to 12-15 people (depending on the workshop). This is but one reason that we count on you to attend your chosen class, once you have registered for it.

If you must withdraw for any reason please be aware of our refund policy as follows:

For our local workshops, 1 to 5 days in length and our Local 10 Week Courses, VPW requires 15 days written notice (before the workshop start date) of your withdrawal in order to provide a refund. (Email notice is acceptable.)

If you wish to transfer to a different workshop date VPW requires 7 days written notice.
