Vancouver Photo Workshops proudly presents the five day workshop, "Greg Gorman Master Class" with internationally acclaimed photographer Greg Gorman.

Set in beautiful Vancouver, British Columbia, this is an incredible opportunity to expand your visual horizons under the guidance of one of the great masters in contemporary photography. Take part and experience a renewed sense of energy, inspiration and vitality in your photography.

This workshop is like nothing you have ever experienced. Be inspired and guided by a true Master.

Shoot amazing models at million-dollar locations. Enjoy rare wines and fine foods with like-minded photographers.

It's simply the most distinguished, unique workshop opportunity VPW has ever created!

Workshop course description provided by Greg Gorman:

In this week long workshop Greg will share his vision as a portrait and figure study photographer.

He will not only discuss his style but also his insight into creating lasting imagery.

Greg will demonstrate his lighting techniques in the studio and natural light, using models and locations in the Vancouver area.

VPW has booked exclusive, rare locations approved by Greg to ensure a unique backdrop for the high-production shoots. VPW has used similar locations for the famous Master Workshop with Ralph Gibson in 2005, 2006 and 2007.

Students will have the opportunity to shoot in all locations with the models and will share their photographs in an open forum each day with critiques by Greg.

Students may choose to shoot portraits and/or nudes during this workshop, using either film or digital capture with cameras of any format.

Greg will travel to Vancouver ahead of the workshop to personally audition and cast the models for this exclusive workshop. He will also visit and approve all shooting locations before the workshop begins.

After a discussion on workflow and editing, the week will finish with a fine art printing session of student images.

Students will be responsible for retouching their own images outside of class, since the emphasis of this workshop will be on capture.

Please Note: SLR Camera only

Greg Gorman’s work documents that peculiar obsession of the 20th century celebrity. His photography is timeless and not confined to has-beens, hot properties and wannabe's.

Each shot gives a picture of human nature in its infinite range. Each picture is also a testament to the individual character.

"For me a photograph is most successful when it doesn’t answer all the questions," says Gorman, "and it leaves something to the imagination."

For over three decades, Greg Gorman has continued to master the art of photography. From personality portraits and advertising campaigns to magazine layouts and fine art work, Greg has developed and showcased a discriminating and unique style in his profession.

Besides traveling the world for specialized photographic projects, Mr. Gorman continues to work on compilations of his imagery. A book is forthcoming on his award winning L.A. Eyeworks campaign and currently Mr. Gorman is in production on a book tentatively titled In Their Youth: Early Portraits, which incorporates forty years of previously unpublished work. These releases will join his previously published books: Greg Gorman Volume I, Greg Gorman Volume II, Inside Life, Perspectives, As I See It, and Just Between Us. In 2007, The Journal of the 21st Century published a book of Mr. Gorman’s platinum prints entitled Odes to Pindar.

Aside from photography, Greg’s other passion has always been wine. He is now taking his keen interest one step further by venturing into wine making. Mr. Gorman will be producing his first vintage this fall with renowned winemaker Dave Phinney from Orin Swift Cellars.

Born in 1949 in Kansas City, Missouri, Greg attended the University of Kansas from 1967-69 with a major in photojournalism. He completed his studies at the University of Southern California, graduating with a Master of Fine Arts degree in cinematography in 1972. He currently divides his time between his homes in Los Angeles and Mendocino, California.
