Vancouver Photo Workshops proudly presents:

Freeman Patterson Presentation and Teaching Event:

"VISUAL DESIGN: The Craft of Visual Expression - a full day of illustrated lectures for photographers, painters, and other visual artists."

January 26th, 2013, 9am - 4:30pm

Held at Simon Fraser University - Harbour Centre Campus

Vancouver Photo Workshops proudly announces this presentation and teaching event with internationally acclaimed photographer Freeman Patterson.

This once in a lifetime opportunity is part of Freeman Patterson's stay in Vancouver, and in addition to his 4 Master Workshops held January 22nd - 25th, 2012.

Use this opportunity to meet, hear, and earn from one of the great masters in contemporary photography.

In his opening remarks, Freeman will be relating the importance of visual design to visual communication and expression.

He will make a comparison between visual design and linguistic design (the design of
languages) and follow this with an illustrated discussion of the two major contrasts that light produces — tone (brightness) and colour (hue) and how these enable all visual artists to see, create, and work with the major building blocks of two-dimensional visual design: line, shape, texture, and perspective.

After examining these in depth, Freeman will illustrate and discuss the major visual principles for arranging them in picture space. (Except in passing, Freeman will not be dealing with the hardware and software of digital or film photography.)

If you missed his exclusive Master Workshops, then don't delay to take advantedge of this one! Tickets are limited, so please be sure to register early!
