Workshop description provided by Freeman Patterson:

Basic statement - The workshop medium is photography (digital or film). The workshop crafts are "seeing" and visual design, that is, using good visual design to communicate what you see and how you feel about what you see.

Each of the four (4) Master Workshops with Freeman Patterson will last one day (9am to 4pm with breaks and catered lunch provided and included in the workshop fee).

Each Master Workshop is highly limited to only 8 participants!

These are some of the smallest workshops Freeman has ever taught! The small group size intensifies the experience and guarantees an unparalled level of personal attention and opportunity for one-on-one interaction.

Freeman will discuss and talk about the WHY, not so much about the HOW of photography.

Each Master Workshop will include time for lecture/instruction, a slideshow presentation of Freeman's images, and hands-on shooting time under Freeman's guidance and supervision.

The workshop will end with an in-depth review and critique of each of the participant's images created throughout the day.

Students may use film or digital capture. If using film, please advise our office so that we can arrange for speedy film processing to allow you to participate in the critique/ review session at the end of the workshop day.

Participants are encouraged to sign up for only one (1) of the Master Workshops at this time. Please contact us if you are interested in multiple Workshops and we will arrange for such opportunity if space permits.

Due to the long waiting list that is already established, you are encouraged to sign up as soon as possible to guarantee availability of your choosen workshop date. Thank you!

Vancouver Photo Workshops is proud to present Freeman Patterson for the inspirational show: Gardening with what you have.

Freeman Patterson is an internationally acclaimed photographer, teacher of visual design, writer and gardener. He is a member of the Order of Canada and his photographic images have been accepted into the permanent collection of the National Gallery. His many books include Namaqualand: Garden of the Gods; Portraits of Earth; and The Garden. His own garden was featured in the award-winning documentary series Recreating Eden.

Freeman believes that just as “the best place to see and make photographs is wherever you are,” the best place to garden is also wherever you are. No place is too unsuitable or too small, and success depends entirely on a person’s imagination and common sense. Come and share this photographic celebration of gardening and biodiversity.

Tickets are only $55 each ($90 for two). For volume purchase of 10 or more tickets, please contact VPW for details. Our office can be reached @ 778.898.5256 or via email.
