Vancouver Photo Workshops proudly presents this exclusive weekend workshop, "A Master Class with Douglas Kirkland" with iconic photographer Douglas Kirkland from Los Angeles.

This will be Douglas's first ever workshop conducted in Vancouver, and VPW is proud to be bringing him up here!

See a master at work and gain a more intimate understanding of that special connection between a photographer and their subject.

Douglas will draw on his extensive experience photographing famed stars from the past half century, through lecture and demonstrations, to guide students through the nuances of working with people to create truly honest and evocative portraits.

This workshop is a rare opportunity for aspiring and professional photographers alike, to advance their photographic skills under the guidance of a world-renowned, award-winning, iconic photographer like Douglas Kirkland.

This is your chance to peek into the mind of one of the photo industry's most influential artists.

When Douglas talks about photography, his passion and gusto are infectious. This kind of lifelong commitment to the pursuit of creative excellence is what drives our industry forward, and to experience such vigor straight from the source is an opportunity not to be missed.

Douglas encourages students to ask questions and promotes open interaction through discussions about the inspirations and feelings that drive artistic work.

The weekend will begin with a morning lecture, followed by a demonstration and hands-on shooting time for all participants.

On Day 2 will start with a second shooting session, followed by some post-production and image critique in the afternoon. Douglas believes that "studio is a state of mind"…that sense of control of the shoot comes from within and that is exactly what this weekend workshop will be focused on – thinking on your feet while maintaining that all-important connection with your subject.

Students are encouraged to bring a portfolio of their recent work, camera, and a laptop with editing software.
