Vancouver Photo Workshops proudly presents a two day workshop, "Creating Stronger Imagery With Photoshop" with local acclaimed photographer Dave Montizambert.

Half of Photoshop is for production, the other half is for the creative, and that is what this workshop is about, Creative Photoshop. During this workshop you will learn the following techniques:

 

Day –1:

Creative Photoshop

In this session, international lighting/Photoshop trainer Dave Montizambert will show you how to create:

• Soulful portraits with digital light painting.
• Stunning effects to give your images that edge – digital Cross Processing
& Skip Bleach techniques.
• Advanced fine art B&W/sepia conversions.
• Painterly selective softening techniques using Blending Modes & Blend
Ifs.
• Put the grit back into imaging with Dave’s Advanced grain effects.
Within this workshop that concentrates on the creative side of Photoshop,
you will learn many essential techniques such as how to use curves, and
Layer Masks.

To Meter Or Not To Meter

Metering was crucial in film photography but with the advent of instant preview and histograms in digital photography metering is fast becoming a lost art. In this session international lighting and Photoshop trainer Dave Montizambert will show you how to combine tried and true metering techniques with digital instant previews and histograms for stronger images with less stress.

You will learn:

• How histograms work and their limitations.
• About instant digital preview’s place in image capture as well as its
shortcomings.
• Different techniques to capture a perfect exposure every time.
• How a meter works and how to use it to your best advantage.
• Dave’s shooting procedure that greatly simplifies the thought
process of metering and capture.
• How to correlate reflective meter readings with Photoshop’s
densitometer.

Day-2:

Photoshop Pre & Post Imaging Techniques

Want to have confidence in your images? Then it’s time for a little Photoshop cod-liver oil. In this session international lighting and Photoshop trainer Dave Montizambert will give you the know-how to create great images that will reproduce beautifully.

You will learn:

• Colour Correction.
• Optimizing images for output.
• Background knock-out techniques.
• Streamline digital workflow.
• How to identify a perfect exposure in digital.
• How to control & predict with absolute accuracy, highlights and
shadows for perfect prints every time.
• How to sharpen images for reproduction.
• How to easily control colour from camera to monitor to print, for
stronger stress-free imaging.

Dave Montizambert lectures internationally on lighting, digital
photography, and Photoshop.

He is also a published author having written
two books on lighting and digital photography plus numerous magazine
articles on these topics in North America, Asia, Russia and in Europe. Dave
also creates Photoshop tutorial DVD's for www.software-cinema.com.


From 1999 to 2002 Dave was a beta tester for Foveon digital cameras
located in Santa Clara California (see www.foveon.net) and is currently
part of the Adobe Photoshop & Lightroom Beta test team.

Pre-Requisites

Level:

Basic photography and Photoshop knowledge required.

Enrollment:

Maximum 20 participants.

What to Bring

Equipment Needed:

Bring your film or digital SLR camera (must have manual controls) and at least 1 lens.
Bring your computer with Adobe Photoshop CS3/CS4 installed.

Early-Bird Discount:

A 10% discount is applied automatically if you register before the Early-Bird Discount deadline date listed in the registration table below.

CAPIC & PPABC Members:

A 5% discount is available to CAPIC and PPABC members when registering online. Please be prepared to show your membership cards on the first day of your workshop.

Group Discount:

A 5% discount will be appplied if 3 or more people register at the same time for the same workshop. (All 3 tuitions must be paid for by one credit card to be considered a group registration.) Please follow the instructions on the online registration page.

Refunds

In order to provide the best learning environment possible VPW keeps class sizes limited to 12-15 people (depending on the workshop). This is but one reason that we count on you to attend your chosen class, once you have registered for it.

If you must withdraw for any reason please be aware of our refund policy as follows:

For our local workshops, 1 to 5 days in length and our Local 10 Week Courses, VPW requires 15 days written notice (before the workshop start date) of your withdrawal in order to provide a refund. (Email notice is acceptable.)

If you wish to transfer to a different workshop date VPW requires 7 days written notice.
