Biography -- About Benjamin Von Wong:

A young Canadian photographer of Chinese origins, Benjamin Von Wong began his carrier in 2008 at the age of 21 after studying Mining Engineering at McGill University. While pursuing a work term in Nevada, he purchased a cheap camera to distract himself from a breakup and taught himself how to use a camera. His passion began as he shot the streets of Las Vegas followed by those of Montreal.

Inspired by the diverse countries through which he grew up in, China, the United States and Canada, his extracurricular lessons in arts, painting, music and dance and his education as an engineer, Benjamin Von Wong soon began to create conceptual photographs which originate from a fantastical, original, epic, surreal and unique universe. To match his work, he selected an artist name, became Von Wong and quit his job in February 2012 to pursue his passion.

“Sounds Impossible, Let’s do it”

Coming from the Web 2.0 generation, he maximizes his utilization of the social networks to gather passionate individuals that volunteer to participate and collaborate in his projects. Since quitting, he has also launched his first international collaboration “Von Wong does Europe” crowdfunded by fans and friends with the help of numerous social networks. This project has allowed him to collaborate with a variety of artists throughout Europe such as Pyrotechnicians, Underwater film crews and Paraplegic Olympic athletes.

His photographs, articles, as well as many of his Behind the Scene photos and videos can be found on Facebook, flickr, 500px, Youtube as well as numerous social blogs such as DIYPhotography, Petapixel, Fstoppers, SlrLounge, Prophoto, B&H Photo.
