Creating Art with Plastic and Toy Cameras Weekend Workshop:
"When
my friends looked at my photographs they couldn't belief
that I really was the one who took them - I told them
that VPW could help them achieve the same outstanding
results as well! Thank you for an excellent class!"
Be prepared for a fun-filled weekend with lots of hands-on picture taking! This class is meant for those of you interested in an alternative approach to shooting. You'll learn about plastic cameras, such as the Diana, Lomo, Holga, Pinhole, and the latest “alternative digital gadgets” such as the already famous lens baby. Beau Photo has generously offered to provide this workshop with a great variety of plastic and toy cameras for all students to use. Better yet, tuition for this Workshop includes your very own Holga camera for each and every student to keep.
As a "point-and-shoot" type camera, there are few technical decisions to be made when using these plastic toy cameras, but important things you need to know to get the best exposure and composition will be discussed. You'll learn from Marc what film to use, how to alter the camera to get what you want, what lighting conditions give you the best result, and how to use a flash with the camera.
We’ll shoot extensively during the weekend, first in the studio and then outside during a fieldtrip throughout downtown and the waterfront. Film will be processed in a 1 hour lab so we will get it back in time for the in-depth review and critique session on Sunday afternoon.
