Join Instructor Syx Langemann for his latest workshop centered around the magical world of Fashion Photography. These workshops are famous for their hands-on focus and Syx offers his students creative opportunities to built diverse portfolios of their own in a matter of a few short weeks.

This 3 day intensive workshop will give you the tools you need for a good start in this exciting field of fashion and editorial photography, beginning with a clear understanding of the many elements and processes that make a fashion shoot smooth. You'll learn how to create impeccable lighting, how to be a masterful director, and very importantly, refine a sensibility for current trends in the industry. You'll find out how to cast and direct models and how to work with a crew of assistants, make-up artists, hair stylists and fashion co-coordinators. Designed to maximize hands-on shooting experience, Syx will invite you to actively take part in 2 full days of full-scale shooting exercises. Professional models, stylists and make-up artists will ensure you'll not only learn lots about this exciting industry and profession, but also walk away with professional quality material you'd be proud to add to your portfolio. Syx will show you a variety of lighting styles and techniques and be on hand to answer all your questions, while he guides you through the entire learning process.

Detailed Course Outline and Agenda:

Introduction, 7pm - 10pm (Friday, June 13th) Meet Syx at his studio, 104 - 2050 Scotia St. (Scotia and Main) for an exciting evening review of lighting equipment and techniques. Included will be a presentation of images shot by some of the world's most influential fashion photographers. Syx will demonstrate how their body of work collectively changed the face of fashion photography and inspired his own unique style.

Meet at the Ironworks Studios 10 am - 5pm (Saturday, June 14th) All Day Shooting with professional Make Up, Hairstylist and Models. Lighting set up: Natural light and single light sources

Meet at the Ironworks Studios 10 am - 5pm (Sunday, June 15th) All Day Shooting with professional Make Up, Hairstylist and Models. Lighting set up: multiple light set up and outside/location lighting (depending on the weather)

Critique 7pm - 10pm (Date tba) Have a fun evening at Syx's studio and bring 10 images for review and critique.

While comparable courses taught at other institutions in this City take up to 18 students, VPW has strictly limited this class size to 12 students only. This will ensure that you will have more than twice as much time to shoot and receive quality one-on-one instruction from your instructor Syx. Make-up Artists and professional Models will be present for the saturday shooting session, and you will be using state-of-the-art lighting equipment supplied by Flashpoint Rentals.
