Workshop course decription provided by David Julian
himself:
This workshop is for digital and traditional photographers and artists who want to make creatively expressive images using Adobe Photoshop. This unique workshop is designed to combine the creative heart and imagination of the artist with the power of digital tools. To inspire us from the start, we will examine many darkroom and digital processes, narrative montages, vintage photographs and “toy camera” images, learning how they imbue artworks with unique beauty and a timeless aesthetic. Informed by this marriage of art & science and our shared discussions, you will transform existing images you bring along, create new images in the field and experience moments of spontaneous “beautiful invention”.
Through hands-on demonstrations of Photoshop’s most powerful tools, participants will learn my methods for creative flexibility and precise control. Be prepared to stretch, grow, experiment, learn, interact, have fun and get inspired! You’ll leave with new ideas, new images, new friends and renewed excitement for your personal artistic growth. A bound workbook and companion CD are provided.
During our workshop you will:
- Find inspiration, generate ideas and express your innate creativity
- Expand your craftsmanship with Photoshop
- Discover new directions for your work
- Shoot new images and work hard in the “Digital DimRoom”
- Receive coaching and supportive critique
- Gain more confidence with Photoshop
Participants should have at least intermediate Photoshop knowledge. Familiarity with the functions of layer and channel palettes and a grasp of selection methods will prepare you for our week. Bring any digital camera you know and like to use. Bring existing images you want to take further. Please inquire if you have any questions.
