Canon 5 D Mark II First Shots:

Good morning everybody!
Another camera test…but keep in mind that this particular scene would have been an amazing photo opportunity with ANY camera.

I was driving up to have dinner with a photographer friend of mine who lives in Squamish, about an hour outside of Vancouver along the way to Whistler. You can check out Tim’s work [...]

Nikon D3X first Shots:

Today, I have an example image taken while testing the brand new Nikon D3x:

I had the Nikon D3x for almost a week while in Hamburg. I couldn’t wait to take it out for several shooting sessions. Being a Nikon D3 owner, I really wanted to know how this camera would compare.
You may already know that [...]

HDR your Vision!

Hello everyone!
Sorry for the long silence…got real sick just before returning to Vancouver, so I had to take a few days to get back on my feet. It all started when I was on my way to see my friend Dan Burkholder. When I got to his place I went straight to the bedroom. The [...]

Some fun new Creative work – Syx

I finally had the chance over the holidays to work with a new makeup artist on a fun project.
We both needed something new for our books, and both Tamar and I like the lighting style of Jill Greenberg.
We enlisted the help of Bianca Kristensen for styling and Tim Tallevi as my photo assistant.

Another NYC Panorama:

Here’s another panorama shot taken from the “Top of the Rock” observation deck:

The weather wasn’t great, visibility could have been better. This is a shot of lower Manhatten, again assembled from multiple images (6 individual images in this case). No post was applied, just some basic adjustments in Camera Raw (clarity, vibrance, slight vignette). I [...]

NYC Skyline in Black and White:

Here’s the next image from NYC:

Also taken from the Rockefeller Center. Even though this is a square image, it is also a panorama. I shot it with my Nikon D3 and 24mm TS lens. Lens was setup horizontally, and I took 3 images with the lens shifted down, middle position, and finally shifted all the [...]

New York City Golden Hour

Hello!
Another color photograph for your review:

This was shot from the “Top of the Rock”, which is the observation deck on the Rockefeller Center (on the 86th floor I belief). I went up there today with my Nikon D3 and 24mm TS lens. This lens does both tilt and shift movements, which is extremely useful for [...]

Prague Panorama: In Black and White

Good morning!
I am on my way to New York City this morning, but I wanted to post another image for your consideration.

This is the black and white version of Prague’s old town square view. I posted the color image yesterday. I used Photoshop to convert this image to black and white. The conversion process took [...]

Prague Panorama!

Guten Morgen (so we say in German…)
Don’t want you to think I only shoot and post black and white images, so today I have selected a color shot.

This particular image was shot in Prague, during my recent trip there in December 2008. I had to use my handy gorilla pod, which is a very small [...]

Photo-Du-Jour: Ghost Town Cabin

Good morning!
here’s another image taken during my Ghost Town visit in California:

Another shot originally taken on film, using a Mamiya 7 with 43mm wide-angle lens. I did bring both a digital and a film camera on this trip (will post digital images in the near future).
So what can you learn from this image (if anything)? Well, I [...]
